Our Orchestras

The PYO is offering two orchestras to best fit our members’ abilities.

• The Pocono Junior Strings Orchestra
• The Pocono Youth Orchestra

Rehearsal Location and Schedule

The PYO orchestras rehearse weekly at the Stroudsburg Junior High School in Stroudsburg, PA.  

• The PJSO rehearses on Tuesdays from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM
• The PYO rehearses on Thursdays from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM.

Tuition

The PYO is a private organization that is funded almost entirely by tuition.  Tuition is due for each session by the second rehearsal.  Please fill out and submit the Registration Form and submit along with tuition payment.  We welcome all students regardless of ability to cover tuition costs.  If you require financial aid in order to participate in the PYO, please see the Registration Form for details.

2024-25 Season Tuition:

• PYO Members: $450/year
• PJSO/PCSO: $360 per year 

Student Awards and Scholarships

The PYO offers numerous awards and scholarships to our students annually.  Students are selected for the Ensemble Player Award and the PJSO Leadership Award.  Students must apply for consideration of the Andersen scholarship and Excellency Award.  Keep an eye out for these opportunities as they become available!

PYO Mentor Program

The PYO offers a free mentor program to build the talent of our younger students in the PJSO and PCSO.  

• PJSO and PCSO Students — Students in our younger groups can sign up for free lessons from our PYO students.  Contact the PYO to join the program!  
• PYO students — You are encouraged to become mentors.  You will gain invaluable teaching experiences.  You will be required to meet with your mentee about every 2 weeks and/or participate in PJSO / PCSO rehearsals.  Sign up to attend rehearsals to get started!
